Rema Donates ₦105 Million to Edo Church That Supported His Family After Father’s Death.

Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made a heartwarming gesture by donating ₦105 million to a Christ Embassy church in Benin, Edo State. The church played a crucial role in helping his family get back on their feet after the tragic loss of his father.

The generous donation took place during a church service on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Rema expressed deep gratitude to the church for its unwavering support and guidance, especially during the challenging period following his father’s death.

In a video that has since gone viral, Rema humbly stated, “I’m not here to give myself any accolades or glory. I’m here to give God the glory. I feel like it is important to give back because the church has embraced me, prayed for me, and has kept me very consistent with my spirit.”

He went on to detail how the donation would be allocated:

– ₦40 million pledged towards the church’s infrastructure.
– ₦20 million pledged to support the “Rhapsody of Realities” initiative.
– ₦25 million dedicated to improving the infrastructure of the teen’s church, where he grew up.
– ₦20 million allocated to widows within the church community.

Rema also took a moment to reflect on the difficult times his family faced after his father’s passing. “When I was eight years old and lost my dad, we felt very lost and abandoned. Everything we had was taken from us, and we felt very alone. I remember at that time, Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas, the pastors of this church, opened a shop for my mum, and that was how she managed to take care of us,” he shared emotionally.

This donation is part of Rema’s ongoing homecoming tour in Edo State, where he is set to perform at a highly anticipated concert. His return to Benin last Tuesday was marked by significant events, including attending the groundbreaking ceremony of the Edo Arena, a 6,000-capacity venue named in his honor by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In addition to these activities, Rema paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, at his palace. During the visit, he entertained the monarch, who in turn presented him with a royal plaque in recognition of his achievements and contributions to the community.
