Ademola Lookman has won the Ghana Football Awards in Accra for Best African International Footballer.

The Atalanta player won the award following an incredible campaign with both his Italian club and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Lookman beats his countryman Victor Osimhen to the award after clinching the award last year, following his title-winning season with Napoli.

Lookman, who is a strong contender for Africa’s top individual football award this year has expressed his gratitude for being given an award.

In a video message shared on X, he said, “Thank you for the consideration, the recognition, and the votes.

“This means a lot to me and my family. I wish I was in Ghana, but my heart is with you all. Thank you and God bless”.

The Atalanta star had an incredible year, leading the Super Eagles to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations and scoring three goals.

In addition, he contributed significantly to Atalanta’s fourth-place Serie A finish with 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Mohammed Kudus of West Ham United also took home two awards at the Ghana Football prizes, including Ghana Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, top European clubs have expressed interest in Lookman. Saudi Arabian clubs have also expressed interest in the Nigerian international.
